Commercial helicopter operations under an Air Operator Certificate — passenger, offshore, VIP and medical transport — together with the specialised operations that cannot be done from the ground: lifting, firefighting, inspection and aerial filming across Western Europe.

At a glance
  • Founded in 2014 by experienced pilots; core services span AOC, specialised operations (SPO) and ATO training
  • Ten helicopters, single- and twin-engine, part utility and part fitted with comfortable interiors and air conditioning
  • Headquarters in Harskamp in the centre of the Netherlands, with branch offices in Barcelona and Örnsköldsvik
  • A permanent TUG exemption for every Dutch province, allowing legal take-off and landing away from airports
  • Around 500 km of range without a refuelling stop, and passenger flights up to 700 km
  • Charity flying each year for the Make-A-Wish, Skykids and Hoogvliegers foundations

External loads with helicopters

HeliAir holds all conceivable flight licences, including the Air Operator Certificate for passenger transport, and offers the transport of external loads. Loads of up to 1,400 kg are securely hooked under the fuselage — the answer where roads fall short, where a crane cannot reach, or where a nature reserve must not be driven across.

Take, for instance, the legendary bambi buckets for firefighting, each carrying 1,000 litres, or the HeliSpreader for spreading across natural terrain. In 2024 alone the company spread over 2,900 tonnes of Soilfeed.

Every load is prepared to strict protocols: helicopter transport asks for precision and craft, and the team follows the same procedure whether it is a pallet of roofing material or a rescue drop.

  • Protecting the forests of Limburg during wildfire season
  • Placing pallets of roofing material directly onto hard-to-reach roofs
  • Construction lifts where traditional transport cannot be used

Firefighting and spreading

For emergency intervention at forest fires, several bambi buckets are used at once — able to react quickly at locations traditional methods cannot serve.

  • Bambi buckets of 1,000 litres each, filled and dropped without returning to base
  • The HeliSpreader distributing lime and minerals over nature reserves
  • Over 2,900 tonnes of Soilfeed spread in 2024

Inspection, survey and measurement

Flown as specialised operations under Part-SPO, alongside the AOC. The days when the rail network was inspected by staff walking the track are behind us. Aerial photography, LIDAR and infrared find hairline cracks and subsidence quickly, and at lower cost.

  • Railway inspection with aerial photography, LIDAR and infrared
  • Wind turbine inspection, allowing proactive maintenance before reputational damage
  • Gas pipeline inspection, with sensors detecting small deviations in real time
  • 3D measurement using GPS and LIDAR — LIDAR measures through dense vegetation
  • Infrared inspection for heat loss, moisture and electrical faults in buildings and infrastructure
  • High-resolution aerial photography, including 360-degree imagery

Filming and live broadcast

Flown as specialised operations under Part-SPO, alongside the AOC. Helicopters are fitted with feature-film-grade equipment and, where the broadcast needs it, stream live from the aircraft.

  • Formula 1 at Zandvoort — every second of the race captured from above
  • Defqon.1 and other festivals, filmed from a perspective the ground cannot reach
  • The European Football Championship, delivered as an uninterrupted live stream
  • Cinematic aerial footage for feature films and corporate productions

Passenger transport and the fleet

Ten helicopters, single- and twin-engine, part utility and part fitted with comfortable interiors and air conditioning. A permanent TUG exemption covers every Dutch province, so take-off and landing away from an airport is legal and routine.

  • A network of authorised take-off and landing sites in the Netherlands and beyond
  • Around 500 km of range without a refuelling stop; passenger flights up to 700 km
  • Four Robinson R44 helicopters also available for rental
  • Charity flying each year for the Make-A-Wish, Skykids and Hoogvliegers foundations

Offshore, VIP and medical transport under the AOC

Heli Holland's commercial air transport runs under a government-issued Air Operator Certificate, with offshore operations flown from Amsterdam Heliport and Den Helder. The principal offshore aircraft are the Airbus EC155B1, carrying up to 12 passengers depending on configuration, and the Airbus H175 with capacity for up to 16.

The company also holds Part-SPO, ATO, Part-CAMO and Part-145 approvals. Aerial photography, filming and certain inspection work fall under specialised operations rather than the AOC, depending on how each flight is conducted.
